    August 2020 Austin Events and Festivals

    8/6/20 - 8/9/20 & 8/13/20 - 8/16/20
    All Genders, Lifestyles and Identities Film Festival (aGLIFF)
    The annual event will go virtual over two weekends this August, offering more than 50 feature and short films showcasing the diverse experiences of queer people. Festival badges can be purchased now with single tickets on sale in July. aGLIFF Memberships are also available for purchase and give access to the festival.

    ATX Black Food Week
    24 Restaurants & 9 Food Trucks
    Austin Justice Coalition hosts the annual ATX Black Food Week with three full weeks of food, drinks and community empowerment. Support local, Black-owned restaurants for two weeks, plus a full week dedicated to food trucks. Learn about the history of Austin while supporting the businesses that make this city feel like home.     Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival 
    Virtual Event 
    The sauce must go on! The 30th annual pepper-filled event is throwing a virtual event, featuring winner announcements for restaurants and commercial bottler categories, music, videos and much more! To experience the virtual event at home, participants can purchase their very own Hot Sauce Tasting Kits, which include samplings from a variety of local bottlers, all-new Hot Sauce merch, and more!

    Blues on the Screen

    Since we can’t gather in Zilker Park, Austin City Limits Radio is bringing Blues On The Green to your screen! Tune in for performances from some of Austin’s most buzzed-about rising stars, along with special sets from Austin legends.

    Capital City Black Film Festival
    Various Locations
    CCBFF celebrates African American filmmakers from across the nation and provides a stage for burgeoning talent. This festival packs in the fun with four-days of events, seminars, parties, screenings and more.

    Bat Fest 
    Congress Avenue Bridge 
    Celebrate this batty event as the world's largest urban bat colony (1.5 million Mexican Free-Tailed Bats which take up seasonal residence beneath the Ann Richard's Congress Street Bridge) take to the skies for their nightly flight. Enjoy live music, children activities, a costume contest and more.

    Austin Pride Festival & Parade 
    Fiesta Gardens 
    The PRIDE Festival is the largest annual LGBTQ advocacy and fundraising event in Central Texas! Dozens of non-profit organizations and social clubs use the Festival as a platform to inform and interact with the thousands of attendees. Each year, countless people find new organizations to join, causes to support and opportunities to volunteer.

    Zilker Summer Musical
    Zilker Hillside Theatre
    Pack a picnic and come enjoy the free, annual musical at the Zilker Hillside Theatre. The outdoor amphitheater plans to host performances of "Mamma Mia!" Thursdays through Sundays beginning around 8:15 p.m.

    September 2020 Austin Events and Festivals

    Austin Weird Homes Tour
    Virtual Event
    Now in its 7th year, the Austin Weird Homes Tour is doing something a little different this year - they are producing a 100% virtual tour. Come along with the Weird Homes Crew and visit these wonderfully weird homes from the comfort and safety of your home. Plus, anyone in the world can tune in to enjoy!

    HAAM Benefit Day
    Virtual Event
    The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, or HAAM hosts an annual, citywide benefit to raise support for local musicians. For one day, hundreds of local music showcases and concerts will take place virtually. The day will feature livestreams all day long on both HAAM's social channels and those of so many of your favorite local musicians.

    9/19/20 - 9/20/20
    Fall Pecan Street Festival 
    Virtual Event
    The Pecan Street Festival is a free, bi-annual juried music, arts and crafts festival. The 2020 festival will be entirely virtual, allowing for the opportunity to expand the event from one weekend to a much longer stretch of programming – providing more opportunity for public engagement with vendors, artists, musicians and other special guests.

    Austin Museum Day 
    Museums Across Austin 
    Organized by the Austin Museum Partnership, this special day features free exhibitions and activities at participating Austin-area museums and cultural sites.

    Free Day of Yoga 
    Various Locations 
    All day long, participating studios across the Austin area offer free classes as an opportunity for every age and fitness level. 

    Americas Rallycross
    Circuit of The Americas
    This September, get into the action with a full day of rough and tumble action, featuring head-to-head short, sharp racing on dirt and asphalt, a MEGA jump and all the action you can take. Witness high profile drivers with the ability to accelerate from 0-60mph in less than two seconds – faster than an F1 car.

    Renegade Craft Fair
    Fair Market
    Celebrate Austin's creative spirit at this annual market and craft fair. Shop independent makers and local vendors, enjoy food truck fare and craft libations, and rock to hand-picked local DJ sets.

    Out of Bounds Comedy Festival

    Comedians from around the country show Austinites their comedy chops and throw down in a mini-golf tourney.

    UTOPiAfest Down in the Oaks
    Burnet, TX
    What began as gathering of music lovers on a ranch, has evolved into a weekend of camping and live music featuring 35+ bands. Festival-goers will enjoy a curated culinary experience, a wine grove, a Texas craft beer garden, workshops, art installations and a kid zone for the little ones.

    Zilker Relays 
    Zilker Park 
    The Zilker Relays is a 10-mile team race. Each participant runs a 2.5 mile loop from one central festival/transition area. The team concept of the Zilker Relays is not unique, but the combination of a relay, festival home base, drinks and music, make this experience a favorite for runners of all calibers and ages. 

    Fantastic Fest 
    Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas 
    Fantastic Fest is the largest genre film festival in the U.S., specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action and just plain fantastic movies from around the world. 

    Austin Oktoberfest
    Scholz Garten
    This year, the Austin Saengerrunde will celebrate the 6th annual Austin Oktoberfest at Scholz Garten, the oldest continuously operating tavern in the state. This festival celebrates German heritage in Texas with beer, sausage, live music and bowling!

    Moontower Comedy & Oddity Festival 
    The Paramount Theatre and other locations
    Moontower Comedy & Oddity Festival presented by the Paramount Theatre brings to Austin some of the funniest, wittiest and oddest world-class comics from around the globe. National headliners, up-and-comers and local Austin-based comedians ensure three hilarious days of fun.
